How to Link Global IME Bank with ConnectIPS

Linking your Global IME Bank account to ConnectIPS is your ticket to seamless digital payments in Nepal. Imagine paying your bills, transferring money, or shopping online right from your place. It’s easier than you think.

ConnectIPS is a payment platform product of the Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL). The users are allowed to add one or several accounts and perform various transactions directly from their bank accounts. Those are:

  • Citizen-to-Government (C2G) payments (e.g. taxes, fees)
  • Customer-to-Business (C2B) payments (e.g. utility bills, merchant payments)
  • Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fund transfers12

ConnectIPS is a multi-channel system that comprises a web portal, mobile app, and payment gateway and is available in several banks and financial institutions in Nepal.

Method 1: The Quick & Easy Online Self-Verification

This is the fastest and most popular method because you can do it all from your computer or phone without ever stepping into a bank.

  1. Sign Up for ConnectIPS: If you’re new to it, head over to the ConnectIPS website (www.connectips.com) or download their mobile app. Create a new user account with your basic details.
  2. Add Your Bank Account: Once you’re logged in, find the “Bank Account” menu and select “Link Account.” Choose Global IME Bank Limited from the list and carefully enter your account name and number.
  3. Start the Self-Verification: Go to the “Manage Account” section. You’ll see your newly added Global IME account with a “Pending” status. Click on it and select the “Self-Verify Account” option.
  4. Authenticate It’s You: This is the key verification step. ConnectIPS will send a One-Time Password (OTP) to the mobile number or registered email. At the same time, it will send two tiny deposits (called micro-deposits) to your bank account.
  5. Confirm and Activate: Check your bank statement for these two small amounts (e.g., NPR 0.15 and NPR 0.27). Go back to ConnectIPS, enter the OTP and the exact micro-deposit amounts. And that’s it! Your account is verified and ready to use.

Note: For this to work, your mobile number and email address on ConnectIPS must be the same as the ones registered at Global IME Bank.

Method 2: In-Person Verification at a Global IME Branch

If your contact details don’t match or you just prefer doing things face-to-face, this method is for you.

  1. Register and Link Online: Follow steps 1 and 2 from the method above. You still need to create a ConnectIPS user and add your Global IME Bank account details online first.
  2. Get the Form: After adding your account, you’ll see an option to download a “verification form.” Download and print this form.
  3. Visit Your Branch: Take the signed form, along with a valid photo ID (like your Citizenship or driver’s license), to any Global IME Bank branch.
  4. Bank Activation: Hand over the documents to the bank staff. They will handle the verification on their end and activate your linked account for you. It’s usually done on the spot.

Use ConnectIPS Directly in Global Smart Plus

Global Smart Plus mobile banking app uses ConnectIPS as a payment gateway for fund transfer. This means when you can send funds, via both FonePay and ConnectIPS as required.
